Fiber Artist + Painter
About The Artist:
Katelyn was born in Virginia and grew up as a military child, living in several places before spending most of her life in North Carolina. She is currently a student at Meredith College
in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she is expected to graduate in May 2026. As an emerging artist, she works across fibers and painting, developing a practice rooted in personal experience,
teachings, and storytelling.
Her work explores themes of identity, memory, and the impact of growing up in constantly changing environments. Pulling from her own life, she creates pieces that reflect both movement and emotional grounding. Katelyn discovered her passion for art in the third grade, inspired by a teacher who encouraged individuality and creative freedom. Since then, art has remained a meaningful outlet for expression, connection, and care. She is motivated by the ability to create for others, viewing her work as an extension of empathy and shared experience.
Katelyn has received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Bronze) twice in recognition of completing over 100 hours of community service. She was recently featured in the
2026 senior exhibition, “Dear Diary: The Stories That Shape Us,” at Meredith College. In the future, she plans to continue her artistic journey, but for now plans on faithfully serving in the United States military. Through both her creative and professional paths, she aims to grow her practice and inspire others through her work.
